You know that cold days are coming when you see fur coats everywhere. Thousands of them in the malls, boutiques, local shops, even in bazaar.
Fur coat has always been a part of Russian culture. It has been customary for every woman to have one for winter. In fact they don't only have one, those who can afford have a collection.
I remember in winter I see them all around me. Sometimes I have a feeling that I'm walking with a bear 😊. Seriously, some fur are not even trimmed or soften, they're like a "real feel". You know what I'm talking about.
I don't have one. I'm not brave enough to pull up one. Plus I don't think I'll look good in them. I like down jackets, they're very light and warm. Plus I believe in technology. Nowadays you can find so many jackets with good quality and they are especially designed with special materials to keep you warm. I'm more than satisfied with my North Face nuptse. I just need a parka for freezing cold later.
I am not saying that wearing fur coat isn't right. They're just not for me. Russian women/girls look really good in them. It suits them well. I see them often on a chilly winter evening coming out from the theatre all wearing fur coats and fur hats - such a typical Russian scenario.
I am also not saying that killing animals for fur is correct. Historically it was necessary but the tradition simply continued through generations. If somebody wants to wear something with fur but doesn't like real ones, faux fur is also available in the market. In most cases it is the elder generation who are wearing fur coats. Many people especially the younger generation are wearing down jackets for winter.
There is one earflaps I liked, it's very beautiful. I saw it at the end of winter last year. I wanted it but I had a dilemna. It was made from fur of an arctic fox. I googled arctic fox and saw how adorable it is. I couldn't drag myself into buying it so I postponed the decision. Upto now I haven't made a decision yet whether to buy it or no. For one hand, it's already there, I'm not killing anyone. But for other hand, if I buy it, they'll find more of them to be sold. I want to have faux but I haven't seen one which quality I was satisfied. When I don't see the flaps I vocally say I want it but as soon as I enter the shop and see it, I change my mind.
