Look what we've got - INYEI. Frost in other words. We're having few signs of spring lately. The temperature fluctuates crazily like a plane having difficulty landing. It's always like that when the season's about to change. The same thing happens before fall.
After frigid freezing cold days, the temperature suddenly rose to only -5 to -8. The ice and snow then slowly melted last weekend. That's the time when snow becomes a "porridge", that's how people call it here. It's the time when I can hardly walk straight for the snow is that thick and there's ice under. I describe it as someone's dragging my feet back. It's easy in the downtown because pavements are always cleared from snow and ice. But there are some areas where nobody really cares to clean. For example near some shops but the area is no longer within the territory of the shop. The area between the residence and the main roads. It's funny to notice how they limit their work strictly within their "jurisdiction". So if you happen to pass through these gaps, then you'll happily walk like you're crushing grapes for wine. It's a good legs exercise :).
After thawing a bit, temperature dropped to -18 again which resulted to this beautiful wonderland. I love it when it happens. Everybody's feeling good. People are pleasant and kinder :) Who doesn't feel good waking up to magical morning, right?

So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is very very cold ! The max minus temperatures we have had in Belgium were -12 ! Beautiful pictures !
ReplyDeleteMari your Russian landscape is magical. I love your forest. Absolutely I prefer summer.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! But -18°C sounds horrific to me! Greetings from Germany, and have a nice and warm day!
ReplyDeleteWHat gorgeous winter shots.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so very pretty! Makes me think of Tolstoi and " Peace and War". We had no sun for 10 days and people really became grumpy. Hope that spring will be here sooner rather than later.
ReplyDeleteWe've had similar temps and sludge on the ground. No frost yet though. Your pictures are very pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt does look very pretty, Mari! It still feels like winter where I live but the daylight hours are getting noticeably longer ans that always makes me feel better.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Mari!
ReplyDelete...maybe cold and icy...but ever so beautiful! At least from my perspective here in my sheltered, warm environment.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean by those 'porridge' snow conditions. And it's back down to -18 or so here this morning too, but we're supposed to get some sun today which will make it nice if it actually happens! Beautiful frost you've got!
ReplyDeleteHello greetings and good wishes.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. It is amazing to note how people move about in such cold temperatures
Best wishes

ReplyDeleteThe frosty trees are gorgeous! Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteI like walking on snow/ice when it feels like crushing grapes for wine :-)
ReplyDeleteThose photos are beautiful and magical! Such gorgeous winter wonderland!
Lovely shots Mari, but I'll have to make due with sunshine and sand. Stay warm. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteI agree that a snow scene is among my favorites. I totally dislike the slush when the snow is melting.

Beautiful - those frosted trees look like they're from a fairy tale! But I'll take our +16 °C temperatures this weekend (although our snowiest months are still to come).
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! Looks so cold!
