Blagoveshinkii or The Anunciation Cathedral of Kazan. The first Orthodox church within the walls of Kremlin. Initially, a wooden church was quickly built under direction of Tsar Ivan IV in 1552, before it was replaced with a stone cathedral. The cathedral became the center of religious educational life and missionary efforts in the province of Kazan.
It is located in the same walls of Kremlin where Kul Shariff mosque is. It is evident that religious tolerance is present in the city.

They are beautiful buildings. And they are inside the Kremlin? I always thought of the Kremlin as being a solitary building much like our White House. It is good to learn new things.
ReplyDeleteIt houses the official residence of the president too but Kremlin is rather a fortified fortress where other important institutions of the country/republic are located. In Russia Kremlin is not only the one in Moscow. This is one on my picture is the Kremlin of Kazan.
